It Takes a Village

We’re less than 2 weeks away from Go Dog, Go! 2010. This event has grown and grown, and we’re in for a lot of fun on July 24th. KDOG is extremely appreciative of all of our festival sponsors, especially the support from our top sponsors:

Best in Show Sponsor: Woodmark Hotel

Leader of the Pack Sponsors: Dogs-a-Jammin’, Little Monarch Studios, Grizzly Pet Products, VCA Bellevue Veterinary Hospital, and Rockin Doggie Dog Treats

Pick of the Litter Sponsors: Puppy Manners, Animal Emergency Service East, Strut the Pup, Tia’s Doggie Spa, and Seattle Veterinary Specialists

It is our top sponsors who have made it possible to plan such a great event and fundraiser. Some of our sponsors have exciting news:

• Little Monarch Studio’s Catherine Handfelt recently released her book, “100 Hounds of Kirkland.” Stop by Catherine’s booth at Go Dog, Go! and see this beautiful book. You can purchase her book at the festival, have it signed, and get a few of those Kirkland hounds to add their pawtographs. Net proceeds from this book will be donated to the Seattle Humane Society. This book is also available for purchase at: http://littlemonarchstudios.com/100-hounds-of-kirkland/.

• Puppy Manners’ Becky and Dave Bishop have a new addition. No they did not add a puppy to their family (although they’d love to see your pup in one of their classes.) Puppy Manners has a brand new Training Room. Take a look at this new building, http://www.puppymanners.com/blog/. Congratulations Becky and Dave! Stay tuned….a KDOG event at Puppy Manners might be in the near future.

• Tia’s Doggie Spa is offering a $10 donation to KDOG for every dog grooming between now and September 30, 2010. This offer is for members of the Kirkland Dog Off-Leash Group’s Meetup.com group. To redeem this offer, look in “files” at the meetup.com site, print out the offer, and take this with you to your dog’s grooming. Thank you Tia and Preston! Their grooming spa is in very close proximity to the potential dog park site (just to the north of Fred Meyers).

We have almost 50 volunteers helping with Go Dog, Go! Some of them have already put in quite a bit of time to help us promote the event. Thank you Adriana Ericson, Julie Metteer, and Katie Ferguson for all of the hours you’ve spent creating promotional materials for the festival.   This event could not happen without you. Also, thank you to our KDOG Members and event vendors and sponsors who continue to get the word out about the upcoming festival. Because of all of you, KDOG hopes to be celebrating at our very own dog park next year! See you on July 24th☺

Rockin’ Yappy (Yappiest) Hour at Dooley’s Dog House!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tracy Doering @ 10:52 am

KDOG extends a huge thank you to Chuck and Marti Bartlett and Dana for hosting the most wonderful (and entertaining) Yappy Hour last night at Dooley’s Dog House.    They were such gracious hosts — WOW, what a PAWTY.   We humans enjoyed fabulous appetizers and beverages, and the dogs woofed down puppetizers and played and played . . . and played some more.   It was so fun to watch dogs of all ages, breeds and sizes (from Chihuahuas to Newfoundlands)  happily playing together.  Wonderful prizes were donated by the Bartletts and were taken home by some lucky raffle winners.   At the end of the night the pups were all tired out and laying on the floor with happy faces and wagging tails, and $1,000 was raised for KDOG’s cause thanks to Chuck and Marti’s generous hospitality!

The Bartletts obviously have big hearts and do a great deal to support our KDOGs and other animal causes.  Keep your ears perked for future Yappy Hours at Dooley’s Dog House to benefit charities.     Stop by and visit them at 1421 Market Street, Kirkland.   http://www.dooleysdoghouse.com/

Thanks to so many who attended the Yappy Hour and gave a donation of any amount.    You added to the fun and KDOG very much appreciates your support – we can’t do it without you!
